About Girls in Golf Society
Girls in Golf Society (CIC) - affectionately known as GIGS – established in 2006 - provides an inclusive and welcoming community that allows LGBTQ+ Women to express themselves freely in a fun, safe and encouraging space. Where like-minded women can connect with fellow golfers, meet up in a relaxed and social environment to have fun playing this brilliant sport.
Turned into a Small Community Interest Company in April 2022, GIGS is run entirely by our Directors and volunteers, but we are always looking for more help! Let us know if you are interested?
GIGS offers something for everyone, so whether you’re a beginner, regular player or just like to play casually, GIGS has you covered. Each month we meet up for informal Driving Range visits, social 9 & 18 hole games and Twilight Golf during the summer.
Social interaction and comaraderie is the key to being a member of GIGS, where friendships are formed and confidence is built due to our supportive and encouraging community, which gives LGBTQ+ Women scope to improve and really enjoy their golf. As golf continues to grow and develop as a truly inclusive sport, GIGS will aim to remain the most welcoming golf society for gay women, their friends and allies.

Have fun and make new friends
It’s never easy meeting new women to socialise with, particularly now during these very difficult times. In addition, golf clubs have so often been guilty of such out-dated rules, dress-codes and poor behaviour towards female golfers. They are sometimes not the most friendly places to spend your leisure time at and not always open or welcoming to our vibrant & varied community.
Caron started GIGS as an opportunity to widen her circle of friends and create a community within the sport that she loved. Golf is an amazing game and a sport for life. It’s benefits for health and well-being are being recognised more now than ever and are being positively encouraged by the governing bodies. GIGS is once again, growing into a lovely group of golfers, where it’s so much more enjoyable and fun playing with like-minded people. Whatever your ability, and whether you’re gay or not, at least we all have one other thing in common – We All Play Golf
GIGS whilst aimed at gay women predominantly, is open to all and combines an inclusive, safe and fun community to enjoy your golf with, encouraged by a friendly group of fellow golfers. If you are new to golf, our Bitesize Basics of Golf with Jade - are proving popular with our members and available within the dedicated Members Area on our website - Jade will guide you through the fundamentals of starting your golfing journey in easy-to-read bitesized chunks.
